Sable Trail has built a reputation of going boldly, on the production side, where no safari videos have ever gone before. Now it can say it has stepped into rare territory once again. |

Sable Trail Productions has taken top honors in four categories for outstanding work in the communications field. STP received it distinctions for its breakthrough safari video Double Down: Zambia`s Perfectly Shot Dangerous and Plainsgame.
It was honored for Best Writing, Best Editing, Best Host and Best Video for Sale, from a field of more than 5000 entries submitted for the 2004 Communicator Awards. The Communicator Awards are doled out annually to honor the best of the best in advertising, television, print and video productions.
Past recipients of Communicator Awards include Parade Magazine, NBA Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company and Paramount Television. Now add Sable Trail Productions to the list.
What makes these four honors more impressive is that the selection panel said this is the first time a hunting video has ever received a Communicator Award. Sable Trail`s "authentic, realistic and ethical portrayal" of big game safari hunting is what captured the eye of the judges.
"I`m delighted by this honor and it`s one of the nicest compliments that we could ever receive. In this era of anti-hunting sentiment running rampant through the non-hunting community, and to be judged as the best by someone outside the safari community-Well it`s just stunning," said Marc Watts of Sable Trail Productions.
Telly Awards
And the awards for Double Down keep piling up. In February 2005 Sable Trail Productions received two Telly Awards for Best Editing and Best Overall Video for Sale.
The Telly`s are awarded annually to the best television commercials and programs & the finest video and film productions. Double Down is the first safari hunting video to have ever received a Telly Award.
"My appreciation and commitment goes out to the Zambian people who opened their arms, villages and safari doors to me which enabled us to tell a compelling story of a country and its promising safari lifestyle on the rebound," said Watts.
Official Zambia Endorsement
But the honor Sable Trail cherishes the most is receiving the official endorsement from the Zambia government. Thomas Mushinge, Directorate of Commercial Services of the Zambian Wildlife Authority, handed Watts this achievement in January 2005.
"Bwana Moja, thank you for the wonderful portrayal of safari hunting in our country. I found it to be fair, honest and right on target," said Mushinge.
The official endorsement from the Zambian Wildlife Authority, which operates as the governing body of the safari industry countrywide, means that Zambian government will utilize Double Down as an official document to promote its safari hunting.
"All the achievements are nice but a government official traveling all the way from Africa and presenting me with such a distinction is heartwarming. To believe that my video could actually benefit the economic viability of Zambia is astounding. It makes all the hours of shooting practice and production time spent in the editing suite seem so worthwhile."
