Sable Trail Productions Introduces: The $100,000 AIDS Challenge
Our goal is to raise $100,000 that will go directly towards education/awareness, benefits for spouses who've lost loved ones to AIDS, burial services, children orphaned because of the pandemic and medical treatment. If hunters don't make a statement, it means we don't care, but I know all of you better than that. You want to see Africa and its safari industry survive.
Apart from making a sizable donation to this cause, we recently sent out letters and donation cards to everyone listed in our database who has purchased a Sable Trail Productions video. Read the information below to learn more about our Hunting for a Cause initiative.
SABLE TRAIL AND OPPORTUNITY INTERNATIONAL JOIN FORCES
Sable Trail Productions has teamed up with Opportunity International to join the efforts to preventing HIV/AIDS in Africa, along with assisting with the medical and economical needs of HIV/AIDS victims on the African continent. It`s the first known partnership of a safari group and a charitable organization to assist with AIDS relief in Africa, but it is something we believe is long overdue. Two trackers Marc has hunted with have fallen victim to AIDS in recent years, and this was the motivation that inspired Sable Trail to get involved.
As hunters, we enjoy the rich tradition, landscape and people of Africa more so than any tourists who visit the continent. So now it`s high time to do what we can. Marc is probably not the only hunter who has created a bond with a tracker, only to find out later that he has died from complications related to AIDS.

Opportunity International and Sable Trail believe that building an inclusive and accessible financial infrastructure in the poorest African countries will greatly increase their ability to develop economic independence. This is an ambitious undertaking. It is important to realize that a donation as small as $50 can help provide economic opportunity in areas stricken with poverty and AIDS. You`ve enjoyed our Africa safari DVD`s over the years, now we ask you to support our efforts to help Africa survive. Please consider what you can do to help provide these resources – a gift to the campaign can bring hope to more families. $100, $200, $500, $1000, $5000...any amount will help out. All donations are tax deductible.
Send gifts to Opportunity International, 2122 York Avenue, Suite 105, Oak Brook, IL, 60523 or you can send a gift made payable to Opportunity International directly to us at Sable Trail Productions.

HOW BAD IS IT?
AIDS threatens to orphan 40 million children by 2010. Approximately 1/10 of the world`s population reside in sub-Saharan Africa, but it is home to almost 64% of all people living with HIV, which equates to 24.5 million people. Two million of them are children under age 15. One third of all AIDS deaths globally are sub-Saharan African people. AIDS directly or indirectly affects every single safari outfitter in Africa, so now, safari hunters can do their part to help out. WHAT IS OPPORTUNITY INTERNATIONAL?
Opportunity International works by providing microloans that provide jobs and income to HIV/AIDS affected families, helping them support themselves and establish economic opportunities for their children. Developing businesses and a network of resources empower women, their families, and communities to cope with the devastation of HIV/AIDS.
Opportunity also aims to prevent the further spread of AIDS through peer education, testing, counseling and holistic support. The organization is based in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. In addition to providing a substantial donation to Opportunity International, Sable Trail is acting as a sponsor.
Opportunity extends the transformation to new individuals, families and communities who desperately want to build a future of hope, but just need a little help. The impact within this community goes beyond just loans and financial
services —it means providing dignity, opportunity and HOPE to the next generation.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
It is important to realize that people who have few, if any, assets and very limited chances to earn money often survive by scavenging, begging, and even prostitution. These same people could work their way out of poverty with a small loan.
Helping improve the educational climate and providing economic support will help provide prevention and resources to combat the spread of AIDS, as well as provide more opportunities for the treatment of the disease. Even a small contribution can help provide electricity to a village, housing for a family, or food for a community.
